off the grid

A lesson in geometry for Spring 2014 with stripes everywhere - horizontal, diagonal and vertical. Throw in a mix of unexpected colour combinations with black and white and I'm in geometric style heaven.

House & Leisure November 2011

Two of my prints made it to the pages of the gorgeous new House & Leisure issue (November 2011). This South African magazine is a constant source of inspiration for me and always manages to get me homesick for the wide open spaces and blue skies of SA. "Tiny Towers" (blue and lime) and "Robots in Love" looks great against the backdrop of a bright yellow wall in this Kids Room inspired shoot.

Available in South Africa at Vamp Furniture, Cape Town or online at the Mengsel Shop (shipping worldwide from London, UK).

heal's spring/summer catalogue

The other day, I took a little stroll down Tottenham Court Road and popped into the Heal's flagship store to go spy on my framed silkscreen prints. When I flipped through the gorgeous Spring/Summer 2011 catalogue, I found my "Bigger Boat" silkscreen print in turquoise on the first page! Almost did a little happy dance in the middle of the shop, but luckily I restrained myself and spared the embarrassment. Love how they tied the story together: "New Wave" and "Live Aquatic". Come on Summer!

I seriously can't wait for Summer. Really hoping for a good one this year. Already checking out some Spring/Summer clothes online. Maybe I'm a little over enthusiastic? Love these t-shirts from Zara. The perfect combination of illustration and stripes.

Style Crush: Gwyneth Paltrow in The Talented Mr Ripley

After I posted my Anthropologie picks yesterday, the green epadrilles kept reminding me of Gwyneth Paltrow's character Marge Sherwood in the brilliant film with Jude Law and Matt Damon, "The Talented Mr Ripley". Marge's effortlessly classic style against the backdrop of Italy's Amalfi Coast contributes a lot to this film's cinematic beauty.
